A pretty maid, a Protestant, was to a Catholic wed;
To love all Bible truths and tales, quite early she's been bred.
It sorely grieved her husband's heart that she would not comply,
And join the Mother Church of Rome and heretics deny.

So day by day he flattered her, but still she saw no good
Would ever come from bowing down to idols made of wood.
The Mass, the host, the miracles, were made but to deceive;
And transubstantiation, too, she'd never dare believe.

He went to see his clergyman and told him his sad tale.
"My wife is an unbeliever, sir; you can perhaps prevail.
For all your Romish miracles my wife has strong aversion,
To really work a miracle may lead to her conversion."

The priest went with the gentleman--he thought to gain a prize.
He said, " I will convert her, sir, and open both her eyes."
So when they came into the house, the husband loudly cried,
"This priest has come to dine with us!" "He's welcome," she replied.

And when, at last, the meal was o'er, the priest at once began
To teach his hostess all about the sinful state of man;
The greatness of our Savior's love, which Christians can't deny,
To give Himself a sacrifice and for our sins to die.

"I will return tomorrow, las, prepare some bread and wine;
The sacramental miracle will stop your soul's decline."
"I'll bake the breaed," the lady said, "You may," he did reply,
"And when you've seen this maracle, convinced you'll be, say I."

The priest did come accordingly, the bread and wine did bless,
The lady asked, "Sir, is it changed?" The priest answered, "Yes.
It's changed from common bread and wine to truly flesh and blood;
Begorra, lass, this power of mine has changed it into God!

So having blessed the bread and wine, to eat they did prepare.
The lady said unto the priest, "I want you to take care,
For half an ounce of arsenic was mixed right in the batter,
But since you have its nature changed, it cannot really matter."

The priest was struck real dumb--he looked as pale as death.
The bread and wine fell from his hands and he did gasp for breath.
"Bring me my horse!" the priest cried, "This is a cursed home!"
The lady replied, "Begone; tis you who shares the curse of Rome."

The husband, too, he sat surprised, and not a word did say.
At length he spoke, "My dear," said he, "the priest has run away;
To gulp such mummery and tripe, I'm not for sure, quite able;
I'll go with you and we'll renounce this Roman Catholic fable."

PARTICULARS OF POPE JOAN

It has been confidently asserted, by some modern members of the Romish communion, that the story, concerning pope Joan, is a mere fiction, invented by Protestants to blacken the infallible Church.

In opposition to which insinuation, I here insert the following extract, copied, verbatim, by my own hand, from that scarce and curious old book, entitled, The Nuremburgh Chronicle: which was printed at Nuremburgh, in the year of our Lord 1493; in a Popish city, by Popish printers, and compiled by Popish hands, no less than four and twenty years before the first dawn of the Reformation.

The reader will find the following succinct history of this famous female pope in the above work on page 169.

Translation of the Text

Joan of English descent, but said to have been born at Mentz, obtained the Popedom by sinister arts: for, she palmed herself upon the world as a man when, in reality, she was a woman. In her youth, she accompanied a learned lover of her’s, to Athens: and there, by attending the lectures of the best literary professors, she made so great a progress in erudition, that, on her arrival in Rome, she had few equals and no superiors, in all kinds of theological knowledge.

By her learned lectures, and by her masterly disputatious, she acquired so much esteem and authority, that, on the death of Leo, she was, by universal consent (as Martinus affirms), created Pope.

Some time after her elevation to the pontifical dignity, she became criminally familiar with one of her domestics; and pregnancy was the consequence. She took care, by every precaution, to conceal this circumstance, as long as possible until, at last, as she was walking [in public procession] to the Lateran Church [in Rome], she was suddenly seized with labour-pains, and brought forth her infant, in that part of the street which lies between the Theatre and the Church of St. Clement. She died on the spot; having held the Popedom two years, one month, and four days.

Some writers affirm, that, to this very day, [1493], whenever the pope walks in procession to the Lateran Church, he constantly goes thither by another way, to avoid reviving the memory of the above mentioned detestable event; and that, in order to prevent a similar imposition the new elected Pontiff is properly examined, by the junior deacon, at the time of his holiness’s first enthronement in St. Peter’s chair; the seat whereof is perforated for that purpose.

Thus far the Nuremburgh Chronicle. To which I add the following indisputable particulars.

1. This said Mrs. Joan (who called herself John VIII) was successor, in the popedom, to Leo IV. who died, A.D. 855, and she herself was succeeded by Benedict III.

2. Not only do many grave Roman Catholic historians assert the fact; but the fact
itself has also exercised the wits of more than a few ingenious poets of that communion.

Witness the following epigrammatic verse:

Papa pater patrum peperit papissa papellum.

Not to mention those lines of Mantuan, who was himself a Carmelite friar, and who represents pope Joan and her lover hanging in the ante-chamber of hell:

Hic pendebat adhuc, sexum mentita virilem,
Faemina, cui trilici Phrygiam diademate mitram
Suspendebat apex; et pontificlLs adulter.

3. The statue of this she-pope remained, in the cathedral church of Sienna, so low down, as until about the year 1677: when it was demolished, in order to stifle all memory of an incident so disasterous and dishonourable to the holy see.

The Reader should be apprized, that a wooden print, representing the said lady and her child, was inserted originally, and still remains, in the Nuremburgh Chronicle abovementioned.

THE THIRTEENTH SESSION: THE EUCHARIST

THE FOURTEENTH SESSION: PENANCE

Canon 3. If any one saith, that those words of the Lord the Saviour, Receive ye the Holy Ghost, whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them, and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained, are not to be understood of the power of forgiving and of retaining sins in the Sacrament of penance, as the Catholic Church has always from the beginning understood them; but wrests them, contrary to the institution of this sacrament, to the power of the preaching of the gospel; let him be anathema.

Study it closely, and you will realize that it is not a Traditional Crucifix, as you will find out below. Rather, this Crucifix is known as a "Bent Cross". But, what does that mean? For the answer to that question, let us turn to a Roman Catholic author, Piers Compton, writing in his book, "The Broken Cross: Hidden Hand In the Vatican", Channel Islands, Neville Spearman, 1981.

This Bent Crucifix is "... a sinister symbol, used by Satanists in the sixth century, that had been revived at the time of Vatican Two. This was a bent or broken cross, on which was displayed a repulsive and distorted figure of Christ, which the black magicians and sorcerers of the Middle Ages had made use of to represent the Biblical term 'Mark of the Beast'. Yet, not only Paul VI, but his successors, the two John-Pauls, carried that object and held it up to be revered by crowds, who had not the slightest idea that it stood for anti-Christ." Pontifix Maximus is a papal title meaning in Latin "chief bridge maker" between earth and heaven. However, Jesus Christ is the only One who can claim this title because
"no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6.
This was a title of Julius Caesar and of the Roman Emperors of paganism, thus showing how modern Roman Catholicism is of pagan origin. Constantine, a politician, in 320 AD, hijacked the church of Rome, taking control of it for himself. Hence, all popes accept the title "Pontifix Maximus" which title belonged to the Roman Emporers from Julius Caesar onwards.

"Vicar of Christ." This is the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Rexella: Pope Benedict XVI arrives to cheers and groans. Millions of Catholics and six thousands priests veered from Pope John Paul II’s biblical teachings. And millions of additional Catholics worry about the future of their church. Stay tuned for this and much more on “Jack Van Impe Presents.”

Rexella: Hello, and welcome to Jack Van Impe Presents. Of course the whole world was focussed, once again, on Rome. And who would be the new pope voted in for the Roman Catholic Church, the leader of one billion people on earth. And of course, it was Pope Benedict XVI. And you know, Jack said that he felt that the next pope would be a conservative. And we’ve been getting letters and phone calls and people’s remarks all over the place —“Jack, you told us it would be a conservative. And lo and behold it is.” And there were cheers and there were some groans out there too. You know, no matter who it is, Jack, you’re going to have those for you, those against you. You know, that’s the way it is.

Jack Van Impe: Really, honey, I guess I’m the only man that never has anyone who ever complains about what I’m doing. [laugher] I’m just kidding. But cheers and groans.

Jack Van Impe: It reminds of the story about the monastery where the monks took the oath of silence. And they were only allowed to say one sentence every seven years. So after the first seven years, the first monk said, “I don’t like the food here.” Another seven years pass. They are now at the fourteenth year mark. The second monk said, “I don’t like the food either.” And then another seven years past. At the twenty-first year mark, this monk said, “There’s too much griping going in this place.” [laughter]

Jack Van Impe: Well, we’re going to show you the pros and cons today of Pope Benedict XVI.

Rexella: All right, Jack, on both sides of the aisle, if you watch our program you’ll know that Jack is trying to be a peacemaker between believers, believers in the Protestant arena and the Catholic arena. And he’s trying to be a peacemaker, believe me. And you really have, Jack. I appreciate that so much about you. And I think that if you watch our program you will all say amen to that.

Rexella: Especially if you notice Ireland, how the Catholics and the Protestants have been fighting each other, even killing each other. So I have chosen to put on the screen right now one of the many letters that we’ve received from Ireland where Jack has helped with the situation.

Rexella: “I’m a twenty-three year old male in Northern Ireland and watch the broadcast of Jack Van Impe Presents. I am Catholic and live in a deeply divided society. For instance, between Catholics and Protestants. I was very surprised to hear you had met Ian Paisely, a bigot, a man who stirs up hatred here towards Catholics. And was very happy to hear that you realize this man for what he is.”

Rexella: He goes on—“It is so refreshing to hear love filled message like the one you preached. And I just want to show my appreciation and my love for you and your dear wife. What you said encouraged me to love everyone. And let go of all bitterness.”

Rexella: Oh, Mark McManis, thank you so very much for that wonderful letter. This is certainly something we need to be working today. Letting go of all hatred and loving each other as children of the Lord,

Jack Jack Van Impe: That’s right, Rexella. That’s what the Bible teaches. And you know I said I was going to give my confession on this program and it was the Word of God that changed me, as you’ll see in a moment.

Jack Van Impe: But let me get back to 1976, the second hundredth birthday of the United States of America. Rexella and I — thank you, Lord — were chosen to be the spokesmen religiously for that great event. The second hundredth birthday of the United States of America. But what the news media never carried and we’ll never know why, was the fact that the Communists said, “We’re going to be at Philadelphia and Washington DC and attempt to destroy both cities.” Well, I was really uptight. And when I got there the law officials told me they wanted me to wear this bullet-proof vest because there was warning out that an attempt was going to be made on my life during the second hundred birthday of the United States of America. Boy, that can be hot on a day like it was that day. And it got to be a hundred degrees where I was speaking because the air-conditioning went out and I was wearing this to preach the Word of God. Well, God took care of my life.

Jack Van Impe: But with all that heartache going on, I had the president of one of our universities, a hard-backed fundamentalist school, come and say, “You are to preach at the International Congress of Fundamentalists to be held in Scotland and the leader from Europe will be Ian Paisley of Ireland. And we want you to preach and anti Billy Graham sermon because of Billy’s love for Roman Catholics.”

BILLY GRAHAM = DECIEVER

Jack Van Impe: I said, “Sorry, I can no longer do it.” They said, “Well then, don’t come.” I said, “Fine.”

Jack Van Impe: Well, in the meantime I got a message — we do want you to come. I went. This man’s picture on the screen, this is Ian Paisley. A religious leader who often leads the Protestants up to the front to kill the Catholics. And during that week I heard this term so often, my heart was crushed. This man called the pope a papist who had papist rats following him. The pope’s rats were the Roman Catholics of Ireland. You can take his picture away. My heart was crushed. For weeks I heard Ian Paisley’s voice. And his puppet preachers all saying, Catholics are papist rats, rats of the popel

Jack Van Impe: And one day, after weeping, as I sat on my front porch, I said, “Rexella, I am quitting the ministry. I can’t take this hatred any more.” I was one of the strong anti-Catholic preachers of the day. I said, “I’ve got to start loving my Catholic brothers and sisters, because this is the command of God’s Word.”

Jack Van Impe: If anyone believes the five points of fundamentalism— and that’s how they started, on these five points — One was to accept them. And that was the virgin birth, the deity of Christ, the blood atonement, the bodily resurrection, and Christ’s return. Catholics believe that. We couldn’t fellowship with them because of some of the secondary issues. And many of these secondary issues are found in Protestant churches — but that’s all right! Because those are Catholics.

Jack Van Impe: Wait a minute. Jesus said in John 13:35, “By this shall all men know that you are My disciples because you have love one for another.” So as John 3:14, “We know that we have passed from death unto life because we love the brethren.” Verse 15 adds, “Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer. And no murder has eternal life abiding in him.”

WHAT VAN IMPE HAS FAILED TO UNDERSTAND IS THAT HE HAS TURNED HIS BACK ON THE TRUE BODY OF CHRIST (NOT THAT HE WAS EVER IN IT) BY ATTEMPTING TO DECIEVE THEM AND INSTEAD HAS EMBRACED ANTI-CHRIST AND THE WHORE OF BABYLON. THIS IS NOT LOVE BUT DECIET.

And do you know that outside of Catholicism there are 33,800 Protestant denominations in the world. And we always have one of these right-wing nuts who comes along and says, “Yeah but 33,799 are wrong. I’m the only one who is right.”

Jack Van Impe:
There was a time when I was one of these right-wing fanatics. A right-wing fundamentalists who preached against everyone and everything, in the ‘70s. And then I had an experience that changed my life and brought me to the point where I started loving my Catholic brothers and sisters. And I’ll take any amount of persecution you want to send my way, because of this new stand.

IT APPEARS HE CONVERTED TO ROMAN CATHOLICISM.

But I’ll tell you what did it—Next week. Don’t miss that program. I was like the Apostle Paul, honey. When Stephen was being stoned in Acts 7, verses 51 to 60. Acts 8:1 says, “Saul of Tarsus was consenting unto his death.” Verse 3, “Saul made havoc of the church, hailing men and women, committed them to prison.” And it is estimated that this man slaughtered—Acts 9, verse 1—over 5,000 believers. You know, Jack, not every pope has been so loved as this pope was loved. Not every Protestant minister is loved. They’ve had faults also. But this pope was exceptionally loved and respected by the world. I think we all admit that. Four million people showed up in Rome for his funeral. i'd like to start with an important scripture - because truly it's Jesus Christ alone or eternal hell.

As you shall see below Miss Teresa's own words condemn her: Teresa's words are in red.

Through the entire book there is never a hint that she relies on Christ alone for her salvation. Rather we read things like,
"I've always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become a better Catholic" (Page 31).

"I love all religions. ... If people become better Hindus, better Muslims, better Buddhists by our acts of love, then there is something else growing there." Or in another place, "All is God -- Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, etc., all have access to the same God."

In an interview with Christian News a nun who worked with Mother Teresa was asked the following in regards to the Hindus they worked with, "These people are waiting to die. What are you telling them to prepare them for death and eternity?"

Pontifix Maximus is a papal title meaning in Latin "chief bridge maker" between earth and heaven. However, Jesus Christ is the only One who can claim this title because
"no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6.
This was a title of Julius Caesar and of the Roman Emperors of paganism, thus showing how modern Roman Catholicism is of pagan origin. Constantine, a politician, in 320 AD, hijacked the church of Rome, taking control of it for himself. Hence, all popes accept the title "Pontifix Maximus" which title belonged to the Roman Emporers from Julius Caesar onwards.
